The Chevrolet Code might finally become a reality.
The Chevrolet Code 130R concept first debuted at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show with a wide and long stance and taking the form of a four-seater coupe. At the time, the Code 130R was powered by a 1.4-liter Ecotec engine with 148 horsepower with an estimated 40 mpg on the highway. But Chevrolet has come a long way since 2012 and if the Code does head to production, expect a wider range of engines to choose from.
The application to trademark “Chevrolet Code” was filed on June 2, 2016 for “Motor land vehicles, namely, automobiles, sport utility vehicles, trucks, engines therefor and structural parts thereof.”

The American automaker also trademarked ZH2, which will likely be used on a special edition model of some sort, similar to how ZR1 is used on the Chevrolet Corvette and ZL1 is used on the Chevrolet Camaro. It will be interesting however, if the “H” in ZH2 standards for hybrid, and GM is considering a high-performance hybrid variant for one of its existing models. Chevrolet Volt ZH2, anyone?
