2017 Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback Looking Pretty Sweet in Detroit Debut

Chevrolet has taken the wraps off the Cruze Hatchback at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show.

Offering the same 106.3-inch wheelbase as the standard Cruze, the hatchback offers 22.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seat and 42 cubic feet with the back seat folded down.

A 1.4-liter turbocharged engine makes 153 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque under the hood and uses direct injection and stop/start technology to save fuel. Power is sent through either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.

Hatchback versions of the Cruze will only be available in LT and Premier trims, which are the top 2 in the product lineup. An RS package that brings along unique fascias, rocker panels, fog lamps and 18-inch wheels is also available.

Turning to the interior, the Cruze offers the latest version of the MyLink infotainment system, which includes both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A host of safety features, including lane keep assist, rear cross traffic alert, blind zone alert and rear park assist are all available.

“With 9 percent market growth in small hatchbacks last year, it’s the perfect time to bring the Cruze Hatch to America,” said Alan Batey, president, General Motors North America and Global Chevrolet.

The 2017 Cruze Hatchback will go on sale in fall of 2016.
