The new generation Mazda3 was officially unveiled in Los Angeles on Thursday, bringing to everyone’s attention perhaps the most exciting design of the range ever created.
Mazda will show on the floor of the Los Angeles Convention center both the sedan and the hatchback versions of the 3, and both look stunning: the former appears as it belongs to a much higher luxury class, while the latter marks the entrance of the term hot hatch in Mazda’s vocabulary.
Being a model that has been redesigned from the ground up, the new Mazda3 features a drastically upgraded interior, based on the carmaker’s less is morephilosophy and dressed in newly developed red leather, that will only be available for the hatchback version.
The occupants’ needs for information while on the road are taken care of by a new 8.8-inch center display that can be used via center controller.
Unfortunately for those waiting for a more detailed look on the specs of the new Mazda3, the Japanese manufacturer decided not to provide the full details on engine range and specifications. Mazda did reveal however that at the heart of the new line sits a brand new Skyactiv engine.
Called Skyactiv-x, the new unit will be joining Mazda’s existing Skyactiv-G and Skyactiv-D powerplants that range in displacement from 1.5 to 2.0-liters.
“The all-new Mazda3 we unveil today begins a new era for Mazda,” said in a statement Mazda CEO Akira Marumoto. “The next generation of Mazda cars will enhance the value of the car-ownership experience.”
“Though these products, we will further raise Mazda’s brand value and work towards our goal of building ever stronger bonds with customers all over the world.”
The new Mazda3 will become available in North America in early 2019. Full details on the car, as released by Mazda, can be found in the document attached below.
