Volkswagen of America has revealed full pricing details about the new 2018 Atlas.

With a starting price of just $30,500 excluding destination, the Atlas is set to compete with rivals like the Ford Explorer and the Honda Pilot. For the full SEL Premium with a V6, though, you’ll have to shell out a minimum of $48,490.

Although much has been said about this new SUV set to woo the American buyer, full pricing details and just when the 2018 Atlas will hit dealer lots – in May – had until now been withheld.

The basic S trim, with a 4 cylinder engine churning out 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, will come with standard LED lights, diamond-pattern cloth seats and 18-inch rims.

The SEL Premium, meanwhile, comes with leather seats, an eight-inch infotainment screen and Volkswagen’s much vaunted digital cockpit, which replaces the standard speedometer and tachometer with digital equivalents as well as adding all manner of information, about navigation and entertainment. Unfortunately, that particular newness – offered for the first time in North America on the Atlas – will only be available on the SEL Premium trim.

Buyers looking to get their new Atlas as soon as possible, meanwhile, will be looking at the limited Launch Edition, which starts at $33,500. That version comes with the 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine (276 hp and 266 lb-ft), a panoramic sunroof, and the eight-inch infotainment screen, but no digital cockpit.
