Toyota is trying to turn its Yaris into a hot hatch.
The compact hatch has built its reputation on being an affordable, economical model but it has been revamped to be more stylish and appealing. The standard model now features a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with 110 horsepower and 100 pound-feet of torque. But the more exciting offering is the new Yaris GRMN, boasting a 1.8-liter supercharged four-cylinder engine promising to deliver over 210 hp while paired to a six-speed manual transmission.

The Yaris GRMN also has its suspension reworked with lower springs, larger stabilizer bar and special shock absorbers. Brakes have also been upgraded with four-piston calipers and Toyota says it was honed on the Nurburgring. Styling is also sportier with reworked front and rear bumpers, a rear diffuser and a center-mounted exhaust tip. There’s also stylish 17-inch BBS wheels on each corner and a rear black spoiler.
