The company has introduced the new SEL Sport Appearance Package for the 2018 Ford Edge.
Revealed at the 2017 Dallas Fort Worth Auto Show, the 2018 Ford Edge SEL Sport Appearance Package gives the crossover a sportier look inside and out, and interestingly has cloth interior.
Ford says the decision to offer a cloth interior on a higher trim model comes at the request of customers in markets with more extreme weather conditions. Which is also why Dallas was chosen as the spot to unveil the package, with the city averaging more than 230 sunny days a year, making cloth seating materials more ideal in the heat. The American automaker also says the Edge sells about five percent more non-leather seats in Dallas than the national average.
The package can be combined with the standard 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine or the 3.5-liter V6 and includes several elements finished in Magnetic Metallic: 10-spoke, 19-inch wheels, grille surround, mirror caps, rear spoiler as well as the front and rear skid plates. The package also adds blacked-out headlight bezels and side window trim.

Inside are Mayan Gray fabric seat coverings with Umber-colored Miko sueded cloth perforated inserts. The seats are further complemented by Umber contrast stitching, while custom Copper Sands textured applique carries the color theme to the dash. The carpets are also embroidered with an Umber “Edge” logo.
The 2018 Ford Edge SEL Sport Appearance Package has a suggested option price of $1,295 and will be available this fall.
“Our SEL Sport Appearance Package on Edge is an opportunity to provide customers with a vehicle that meets their high expectations while giving them more choice,” said Edge brand marketing manager Angela Canales. “Being thoughtful about design and feature combinations means we’re giving them the look and the technology they’re after at an affordable price.”
