Chevrolet’s new midsize off roader, the Colorado ZR2, will be leaving dealerships in the spring for at least $40,995.
The small pickup from Chevy includes front and rear electronic locking differentials, new Multimatic Dynamic Suspensions Spool Valve dampers, a 3.5-inch wider track, a 2-inch lift and off-road technology that runs the powertrain.
Buyers will be offered a choice between a crew cab with a short bed or an extended cab with a long bed. A dealer-installed bed-mounted spare tire carrier is another option, along with a full-length black vinyl floor that is being offered at no cost.
The standard engine is a 3.6-liter V6 good for 308 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque, though the 2.8-liter Duramax diesel is also available, offering 368 lb-ft of torque and 186 horsepower. The cost of the diesel upgrade from the 3.6-liter V6 has not yet been released.

The list of standard features is long, including a spray-in bedliner, tow hooks, Chevy MyLink infotainment with an eight-inch touchscreen, an all-terrain spare tire, 31-inch Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires, an aluminum skid plate and more. Every Zr2 built will be come with four-wheel drive
Chevy is looking to take on the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro, a truck which has a starting price of $43,700 with an automatic transmission. With a manual, an option the Chevy doesn’t offer, the Tacoma TRD Pro costs $41,700, still undercut by the Chevy by nearly $1,000.
The 2017 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 goes on sale this spring.
