It appears Bentley is now testing a pre-production version of the 2018 Continental GT.

This particular test car isn’t wearing your typical “prototype black” garb, which indicates the new Continental GT is getting closer to making its debut. Still, the British automaker is trying to hide certain bodylines on the Continental GT, although we can pick out most of the details.

Plastic covers are being used to conceal the sleek shape, while decals are being used to cover the front headlights and rear tail lights. We can however, pick out the graphics on the units through the decals for the first time.

This is also the first time we get to see the retractable rear spoiler that has been moved from being just under the rear window to a more traditional location on the back of the trunk.

The next-generation Bentley Continental is riding on the same platform that debuted on the new Porsche Panamera, allowing Bentley to use existing powertrains shared by Porsche. Expect the range-topping W12 engine to remain in the lineup, but the base model will likely get the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 from the Porsche Panamera Turbo, offering around 550 horsepower.

There’s a possibility Bentley may also use a newly-developed 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 found in the Panamera 4S with around 440 hp. And lastly, don’t be surprised to see a plug-in hybrid variant joining the lineup.

Look for the 2018 Bentley Continental GT to debut later this year.
