Volkswagen’s newest crossover made its auto show debut at the 2016 L.A. Auto Show.

Called the Volkswagen Atlas, the German automaker actually introduced it to the world last month before showing it off at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The all-new, three-row crossover rides on Volkswagen’s versatile MQB platform and it will be the largest model Volkswagen builds in the U.S. Expect the Volkswagen Atlas to compete against the Honda Pilot, GMC Acadia and Nissan Pathfinder, among others when it goes on sale next spring.

The Atlas will be available with two engines, a familiar 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine with 238 horsepower and a larger 3.6-liter V6 with 280 hp. Only the V6 model will offer 4Motion all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission is standard on all powertrains.

As a seven-seater, Volkswagen is hoping to stay competitive in the segment by offering five different trim levels, ensuring a variety of price options and features. Expect pricing and availability to be announced sometime next year.
