In Pebble Beach prior to last year’s Concours d’Elegance, Mercedes-Benz introduced the stunning Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 concept vehicle. At the time it seemed like the stunning car would be tough to top, but Mercedes achieved that by removing said top. The Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet wowed the invited crowd at its world debut during a special event on August 19 in Pebble Beach, California.

Measuring almost 20 feet in length, the Vision concept makes a bold statement, built in the spirit of classic ultra-luxurious open-top cars. “The Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet takes modern luxury into the realms of the ultimate in luxury, and is the perfect embodiment of our design strategy. Breathtaking proportions combined with a luxurious “haute couture” interior help to create the ultimate experience,” asserts explains Chief Design Officer of Daimler AG Gorden Wagener.

Up front a modern interpretation of the Mercedes-Maybach grille has narrow horizontal struts, and its chrome finish plays well of Nautical Blue metallic paint. Mercedes reps say the grille was inspired by a pinstripe suite.

Since the Maybach approaches the size of a boat, it’s only natural that the concept’s rear looks like a boattail speedster, designed with a luxury yacht in mind. Narrow taillamps further emphasize the width of this bold concept vehicle.

The interior of the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet is just as elegant as it is futuristic, evoking the feel of a luxury lounge. The two seats are wrapped in white Nappa leather trim, folded and buttoned in a diamond pattern similar to Chesterfield furniture. Each button is backlit in blue with a small Mercedes logo. The floor is finished in open-pore wood with inlaid aluminum, which further supports the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet’s yachting theme.

Not only is the Vision concept indeed a vision; beneath its beautiful skin lurks a modern marvel. Mercedes says the range would exceed 200 miles.
