2017 Chevrolet Equinox Spied Testing with Pissed Off Passenger

Spy photographers have caught the 2017 Chevrolet Equinox testing in Southern Europe, and the rear-seat passenger is not pleased about it.

Anger towards spy photographers isn’t new — automakers work hard to keep their new vehicles secret from the prying eyes of the media, and the guy in the back seat of this new Equinox definitely isn’t happy to have his photo taken.

The prototype seen in the photos is the Opel Antara, which will become the new Chevrolet Equinox in the U.S. Riding on the same new platform that underpins the Chevrolet Cruze, the platform will have to be optimized for the high-riding crossover and offer all-wheel drive, unlike the new Cruze. Expect front-wheel drive to be standard on base versions of the crossover, while all-wheel drive will come standard on models with larger engines.

Unfortunately, the prototype is still heavily camouflaged, so we can’t see a lot of details for the next Equinox, but it does appear that it will not be a seven-seater. That means the Equinox will continue to compete with models like the Nissan Rogue, Ford Escape and Toyota RAV4 when it hits the market early next year.

As for powerplants in the U.S., expect to see a base 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine borrowed from the Malibu, while the more powerful options will be a 2.0-liter turbo or a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated engine. A hybrid model is also rumored and Chevrolet will probably drop the 3.6-liter V6 from the lineup.

As for the passenger in the back seat: How rude!
