With 540 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque, the 2017 Audi R8 V10 Spyder is the quickest way to lose your hat. Audi’s latest supercar has just been priced at $176,350 including destination.
Mechanically, the coupe and the roadster are nearly identical, but the roof gets turned into lightweight soft top that raises and lowers in just 20 seconds at speeds of up to 31 mph.
To make up for the lack of a solid roof, the Spyder uses a newly developed space frame that uses both aluminum and carbon fiber to add strength while keeping weight in check. The result is a Spyder that’s 50 percent stiffer than its predecessor.

Thanks to its big 5.2-liter engine and its lightweight construction, the R8 V10 Spyder can accelerate to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds and will go all the way to 185 mph. Thanks to its rigidity, race-car-like wishbone suspension, and an extra inch of track width, the Spyder should be just as good through the corners as its coupe sibling.
If the chassis isn’t enough, though, Audi’s quattro system should help. Normally, the all-wheel-drive system funnels the majority of its power to the back wheels, but it has the option of sending 100 percent of the power to the front wheels if need be.
With a standard Bang & Olufsen 13-speaker sound system, standard 19-inch cast aluminum wheels, heated seats, Audi Virtual Cockpit, and more, the R8 V10 Spyder is sure to look as good as it goes.
