The 2017 Audi R8 Spyder dropped its top at the 2016 New York Auto Show.
There aren’t a huge number of surprises with the 2017 Audi R8 Spyder, which serves as a convertible variant of the German automaker’s halo sports car. Powering it is a 5.2-liter V10 naturally-aspirated engine paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. And just like the coupe, the Spyder should be offered with either 540 horsepower or 610 hp with the Plus model.
According to Audi, the cloth roof can open or close in 20 seconds while the sports car is moving at speeds up to 31 mph.

Inside, the convertible version’s interior remains the same as the coupe model, with a fully-digital Audi virtual cockpit that includes a large touchscreen in the center stack and a fully-digital instrument cluster.
Exact specifications including powertrain offerings and weight will be announced closer to the 2017 Audi R8 Spyder’s arrival at dealerships.
