Audi took to the 2016 New York Auto Show to reveal the drop-top version of its R8 supercar.
Besides stunning good looks, the R8 Spyder features a naturally-aspirated 5.2-liter V10, mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Like the coupe, the R8 Spyder should be offered with either 540 horsepower or 610 hp in the Plus variant.
Audi says that the car’s cloth roof will close or open in 20 seconds while the car is traveling at speeds up to 31 mph. A twin fin look is achieved thanks to the new soft-top.

Despite the lack of roof, the R8 is still structurally sound thanks to an aluminum and carbon fiber monocoque that is shared with the standard R8.
