2014-2015 Subaru Engine Issue

The problem: Affected vehicles may exhibit a condition where the engine idles roughly, makes noise (spark knock under acceleration) or in extreme cases sustains engine damage from operating in this condition for long periods of time. This could be due to a glitch in the engine control module software.

Vehicles affected by this service bulletin:

  • 2015 Subaru WRX
  • 2014 Subaru Forester
  • 2015 Subaru Forester

All with the 2.0-liter direct-injected turbo engine

Corrective action: Dealers will update the engine control module software and repair any engine damage attributed to the condition.
