2013-2014 Mazda Ignition Switch Issue

The problem: In vehicles with a gate-type shifter, pressing the Start/Stop button may not turn off the ignition. Even if the shift lever is in Park and the engine shuts off, the ignition may stay on. This may be caused by a worn out ignition switch unit.

Vehicles affected by service bulletin:

  • 2013 Mazda CX-5
  • 2014 Mazda CX-5
  • 2014 Mazda6

Corrective action: Dealers will replace the ignition switch with an updated unit.

Warranty info: This service is being performed free of charge under Mazda’s new-car or extended warranty, whichever applies.
