The problem: Steering-wheel shimmy is felt both at constant and various speeds, and when braking and/or accelerating. Additionally, vibration can be felt throughout the entire vehicle, inside and out. The in-vehicle and body vibration is more prevalent while braking and accelerating. After a short stationary period after driving (as little as a few hours), warm tires can develop flat spots that cause this vibration. Moreover, incorrect tire balancing and/or improper wheel-to-hub-assembly torque could result in the condition.

Corrective action: Dealers will check the tires for anomalies and replace defective tires as necessary. Additionally, dealers will check and correct tire balancing and air pressure and re-torque wheel-to-hub assemblies in proper sequence and tightening specs.
Warranty info: Tires will be replaced under either the new-car or tire-manufacturer warranty, whichever is applicable. Additional vibration correction will be performed under the new-car or extended warranty, whichever is in force and/or applicable.
