The problem: Because of incomplete bonding of the front-door trim strip, water can get between the trim strip and door. Corrosion can then set in the area of the guide holes, which hold the trim strip in place.

Corrective action: Dealers will inspect corrosion damage and fix it if the total repair cost is 80 percent or less of the cost of complete door replacement. If repair cost is more than 80 percent of door replacement cost, the door will be replaced.
Warranty info: This repair will be covered under the limited rust/corrosion perforation warranty, which is good for 12 years/unlimited mileage.
