The problem: On affected vehicles, the front hanger bracket for the front suspension control arm may corrode due to exposure to road salt and humidity. In some cases, the drain hole could clog from rust and sediment buildup. Should this occur, the rust may extend to the control arm, weakening and possibly separating it, resulting in a loss of control of the vehicle and a possible crash. Corrective action: Dealers will inspect the front hanger brackets of the front control arms. If one fails the inspection, dealers will replace both front control arms. If the control arm hanger brackets pass the inspection, dealers will apply an oil and wax anti-rust material to the control arms so they resist corrosion.
